Description

Practical AI for Project Managers is a hands‑on course designed to help project practitioners confidently and repeatably apply AI across everyday delivery activities. Participants learn how to use AI in key project areas – including planning, communication, reporting, governance support, and stakeholder engagement – along with selected PMO and portfolio use cases. The course focuses on real-world applications, showing how AI is already being used across the project lifecycle and how those approaches can be applied daily.

Cutting through the hype, the course emphasises practical use cases, structured prompting, quality control, and decision support. Participants will design simple, usable AI agents and build confidence applying AI beyond individual projects into broader delivery and PMO contexts.

This is not technical AI training, but a pragmatic capability uplift for project professionals seeking faster delivery, stronger judgement, and confidence using AI at work.

Course outcomes

Attending this course will enable participants to move to higher‑value project leadership activities by focussing on the following learning outcomes;

  • Identify high‑value AI use cases across planning, delivery, reporting, and governance, and articulate where AI should (and should not) be used.
  • Select appropriate AI tools for common PM tasks, balancing capability, cost, and organisational constraints.
  • Apply safe‑use and data‑security practices, including handling sensitive information and working within policy boundaries.
  • Use structured prompting frameworks to produce clear first‑draft PM artefacts (e.g., charters, plans, comms, status reports) that can be refined with professional judgement.
  • Evaluate and improve AI outputs using quality‑control techniques (assumption checks, verification steps, and human sign‑off).
  • Integrate AI into meeting workflows to capture actions, maintain follow‑ups, and keep RAID information current.
  • Design and apply simple AI agents/personas (e.g., project advisor, governance challenger, change support) to strengthen decision support and oversight.
  • Develop a practical adoption plan to embed AI into day‑to‑day delivery and extend learning into PMO/portfolio contexts.
  • Being able to confidently apply AI across the project lifecycle, choosing the right tool for the right task to improve delivery outcomes (not just “do faster admin”).

You'll take away:

  • An AI‑ready project artefact pack – project templates plus prompts.
  • A practical Prompt Library designed specifically for project management work
  • A reusable AI Agent pattern you can redeploy to keep on top of actions, risks/issues, and priorities.
  • A safe‑use and quality‑control toolkit that forces assumption disclosure, “trust‑but‑verify” checks, and human sign‑off.
  • A realistic adoption plan that embeds AI into day‑to‑day delivery workflows without creating extra process overhead.
